A 19th Century farmhouse situated on a country lane midst 25 acres of fields and woods. Outside--rolling terrain, a farm pond, an old red barn. Inside--hand-hewn beams, wide pine floors, a fire bucket, native baskets. Distinctively different, a true country inn, lovingly restored and meticulously maintained by two 21st Century women, Barbara and Rosalie Vanderzanden. Step outside to explore the pleasures of country simplicity, to listen to the quiet or to songbirds, to smell the freshness of a summer morning or perhaps the winter fragrance of a woodburning fire.

Wander through the gardens which provide a colorful array of flowers and bounty of fresh fare for dinner, or down a wooded road dusted by the seasonÂ’s first snowfall. An air of quiet simple elegance pervades the common rooms rich with antiques and art, barnboard and brass, pewter and primitives. A bit of Americana, a collection of artifacts gathered round the world, an intimate library with an eclectic collection of books to appeal to all tastes. A small inn is the Waterford Inne come re-create your spirit in our small corner of the world.

Gone is the old woodshed, but here still is the ell which contained it, with uniquely decorated guest rooms, a charming blend of two centuries...

Chesapeake Room: Once the master bedroom of the original farmhouse, today a large room with king-sized bed, Franklin woodstove, and private porch.

English Room: A sunny room overlooking the front lawn and gardens (semi-private bath.)

Nantucket Room: Tidy as a whaling vessel, no porthole here, instead a bay window view of our own Maine woods. Maps, a harpoon, and whales, whales, whales!

Appleyard: As peaceful as its aqua shades, this room features a shaker style four poster and an intimate sitting area.

Lodging reservations are recommended. Dinner reservations are essential.

Safari Room: The innkeepers whimsy--an African experience with wallcoverings one wants to touch. Dont worry, the animals wont roar or bite!

Shell Suite: Two rooms--a bed/sitter combination with a queen bed, tropical touch and large deck.

Dinner is available daily according to the European Plan.

Lodging reservations are recommended. Dinner reservations are essential.
